Hello everyone,
I wanted to explain the first threads of my plans to publish my book ‘Don’t think about Death’ , poetry by Katie Middleton.
I’ve decided to self publish with a limited short print run, so that I can produce a high quality book with maximum control over the spec and distribution.
It will be available as a hard back with dust cover, with 60-70 edited poems.
I will essentially be my own publisher and distributor, and the book will have an ISBN number that means it can be stocked anywhere.
Initially I intend to run a pre-order for a short period to determine how many books will be realistic to print, once those have been distributed I will launch formally via a local indie book shop when I’ve been able to arrange this following receipt of the first copies. For the pre order I intend to use kickstarter.
Why kickstarter?
Kickstarter will enable me to take payment based on the pre order concept without me having to set up my own website and e-commerce page from scratch. This reduces cost for me up front. For continued sales of ready to ship items I will be able to use Etsy, or arrange via my email ifshewasapoet@outlook.com and PayPal invoice. Kickstarter feels like crowdfunding, but it’s essentially just an effective mechanism for pre orders. Reducing risk for me and for you as the buyer.
How do I buy a copy of your book?
You can pre-order via my kickstarter once this is launched. The book will be £16 plus postage. There will be also options to support me further with additional kickstarter ‘rewards’ where in addition to a copy of the book you could receive additional items like hand typed copies of my poems and other extras.
Can you let me know when you’re ready to launch?
Of course! You can sign up to my substack to get the most up to date news on my project
Thanks for your support already
Hope you all have a fantastic week
Katie
